Andy Goldsworthy

So I've decided I'm going to try and post at least once a week, that way I can keep up with my school artwork, recent photographs, and newest artists I've discovered. This week I'm absolutely obsessed with Andy Goldsworthy. I've seen his work before, and I currently watched a video for my 3d class. But I think that he is just really an important artist today, not only the images he creates but the way he creates his art is really phenomenal. Everything is painstaking, long, and usually takes several tries to create it. I encourage everyone to look at his images further than what I post. He really is an incredible artist.

The importance of Goldsworthy on my latest project is that he is able to create the sculpture and the sculpture is able to overpower the space and accentuate the space it is in. The space doesn't overpower the sculpture. My project is to create wax molds, my object is a golf ball, and first) remove the idea of "golf ball" from the wax mold, and second) decided which is dominate, the space or sculpture, and successfully achieve the dominance. I hope Goldsworthy's work can help!
